P.K. Scheerle

P.K. Scheerle, RN
CEO/Chairman of the Board

As a young RN, Scheerle saw the need for innovation in nursing and for keeping great nurses at the bedside. Her knowledge and passion about these issues shaped her career as a nationally recognized business and healthcare leader. In 1982, Scheerle founded American Nursing Services, Inc., a successful supplemental staffing agency. When she sold the company two decades later, it had grown to 28 locations.

A graduate of Harvard Business School’s Executive Program, Scheerle has received many civic, business and professional awards. A founder of the Great 100 Nurses Celebration, she has also been a recipient of the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the American Red Cross Southeast Chapter, and the American Business Ethics Award from the Society of Financial Service Professionals. She was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame and was a New Orleans CityBusiness Woman of the Year for three consecutive years and named Healthcare Hero in 2013. Scheerle served as Chairman of the Young Presidents Organization for Louisiana and a member of its Southern Regional Board.

Scheerle continues to focus on creating trust and commitment among nurses and patients—and empowering her team with a vision that inspires excellence in a variety of settings.

 

Kay Cowling
President and Chief Operating Officer

Cowling joined GIFTED with a history of success and leadership in the talent acquisition and healthcare sectors. She has been a strategic adviser with kay-cowling-joins-giftedGIFTED since late 2015. Her experience in building sustainable and scalable companies includes her time as CEO of the 4th largest travel nurse staffing company, CEO and change agent for a multi branch Home Care and Per Diem company based in the Southeast, Home Health and Catastrophic business leader for the largest national workers compensation network and was a co-founder of Accounting Principals staffing company, now a part Adecco.

Cowling has been a member of numerous professional and non-profit organizations, including and appointment by the Governor of Florida to the Board of Workforce Florida, Strategic Advisor for the Prime Healthcare Collaborative, 101010Health and the Wise Women Council of The Leadership Investment in Denver. She has a history of supporting the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and elder care issues.

She is passionate about GIFTED’s culture, centered around quality focused care to the patient and is excited to contribute to the success of the company and each one of the team members.

 

Maggie Candon, RNMaggie Candon
Chief Nursing Officer

Candon first discovered she wanted to be a nurse during high school. She chose a college where she had close family connections to a nursing faculty member. Her love of the profession has not wavered.

Responsible for Gifted Healthcare’s clinical services, Candon previously held several positions with American Nursing Services, Inc., including Vice President of Supplemental Staffing, in which she handled staffing operations nationwide. Candon is a member of national, state and local nursing organizations as well as the American Association of Critical Care Nursing, WHEN and Louisiana Association of Personnel Consultants. She serves as an American Red Cross Volunteer.

Candon still loves working with nurses who share her passion for the many tasks nurses face each day—from helping a family member understand the best path to take to removing the burden of care from the overwhelmed caretaker. She believes Gifted Healthcare’s future growth will come from its passion to keep the nurse and patient in the forefront.

 

Mary Kay MolbertMary Kay Molbert
Managing Director

Molbert’s leadership has been a crucial element in Gifted Healthcare’s growth. Prior to opening the company, Molbert enjoyed a 17-year career at American Nursing Services, Inc., in which she held various positions including Vice President of Support Services. She is Professional Human Resource-certified and a member of the National Association of Human Resource Professionals.

 

Cindy Fischer, RN
Senior VP/Chief Clinical Advocate

Inspired to enter nursing by an outstanding nurse who happened to be her sister, Fischer remains passionate because nursing allows her to make a difference in patients’ lives in so many ways.

Fischer previously served with American Nursing Services, Inc., from 2000 to 2004, opening the company’s Northshore Division and supervising the Gulfport, Miss., and Baton Rouge Divisions. Active in the Juvenile Diabetes Association of America, she serves on the Board of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Motivated by opportunities to work with other company leaders who share the same values, Fischer is proud of Gifted Healthcare’s dedicated staff and loves the personal relationships she forms with nurses and caregivers.

 

Carol Robison, RN
President, Robison Medical GroupCarolRobison

Carol Robison, RN, BSN has been in the healthcare staffing industry for over 20 years. She began her career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant and went on to became an LPN and then an RN. This experience gave her insight into all aspects of nursing care delivered in a variety of ways. Ms. Robison also worked several years in a critical care unit and obtained her CCRN. She worked throughout Kansas and Oklahoma as a temporary staffing nurse and in 1992 became a nurse entrepreneur by starting a nurse staffing company.

Ms. Robison grew her nurse staffing company to a multi-million dollar business by interviewing and screening nurses with an unprecedented focus on the quality and experience of the nurse. This focus on quality and the ultimate consumer, which is always the patient, quickly established the agency as the top independent staffing company in the region. Travel nursing was also added to the services offered.

She gained additional entrepreneurship experience when she started a private duty and homecare services company was started around 1994. Ms. Robison grew this to over one million dollars in revenue and obtained a Medicare certification. Ms. Robison successfully passed all surveys and received accolades from her customers and referral base. She also ventured into the food industry with an entrepreneurship venture running a hometown restaurant. She juggled this in addition to the two healthcare businesses, nurse staffing and homecare services, and was able to run all three businesses simultaneously and successfully for 4 years.

Ms. Robison has attended multiple leadership classes including qualifying for an elite group that initially was sponsored by MIT of Boston, Inc. Magazine and Young Entrepreneurs Organization. She also completed the Stagen Leadership Institute which included intensive studies in organizational leadership with a focus on communication and execution. Her awards include:

  • Nominee finalist Journal Record Fifty Women Making a Difference Award.
  • Greater Tulsa Area Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year.
  • New Business of the Year Award.
  • Oologah Chamber of Commerce

Currently, Ms. Robison is the Governor’s appointee to the Oklahoma Health Care Authority board. She is a former qualifying member of Young Presidents Organization and Staffing Industry Analyst corporate member. She joined her company with a friend and fellow entrepreneur, PK Scheerle and the name was changed to Gifted Healthcare. Together, they are experiencing a tremendous level of growth and are quickly becoming noticed on the national stage.

 

Mullady VoelkerMullady Voelker, GSW, LMSW
President, Patient Care Services

Voelker joined Gifted Healthcare in 2010 because she was seeking a career that melded her passions for business and people. Gifted Healthcare gave her opportunities to develop both of her interests, and, in turn, she has helped to shape the company. With a background in business and social work, she is active in the community, focusing on bringing sustainable partnerships and businesses to the New Orleans region. She serves on the Boards of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Children’s Bureau, Daughters of Charity, Legacy Foundation, and New Orleans Council for Community and Justice and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and WHEN. Voelker was featured in Gambit Weekly’s “40 Under 40” people to watch.

Voelker sees Gifted Healthcare leading the way in new patient care models that deliver excellent, cost-effective care. She is fulfilled by Gifted Healthcare’s ability to solve problems for patients and client institutions. Voelker sees continued strategic growth and expansion, both geographically and in new service lines.
