Telemetry RN Role & Responsibilities
Patients in a Telemetry unit often require constant monitoring and care. In addition to reviewing readings from technical equipment to monitor patient vital signs, Telemetry RNs are usually responsible for carrying out traditional nursing duties with several patients at a time, so strong multi-tasking abilities are a helpful.
Telemetry RN responsibilities may include:
- Continual monitoring of patient health status and care
- Monitor patients with heart problems, sleep disorders or neurological issues, such as epilepsy.
- Using various life-sign monitoring technology to monitor patient blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rhythms, respirations, and other vital signs
- Administer medications in coordination with patient care plans
- Bedside vigilance, critical thinking and ability to make decisions quickly
- Coordination of patient care plans and educating patients on their care plans
- Display extensive knowledge in many areas of patient focus and be able to care for many patients with compassion
MedSurg nurses may also have the option to earn overtime (OT) or pick up per diem shifts in their area. Gifted Healthcare offers licensure reimbursement and weekly or daily pay when applicable.
