Responsibilities
Dental Assistants prepare patients for dental work alongside dental hygienists and dentists, often operating dental x-ray equipment and sterilizing patient care areas. Dental Assistant’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Help with infection control by sterilizing instruments, preparing instrument trays as well as all other materials.
- Collect and record patients’ medical and dental histories.
- Educate patients on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs.
- Dental Assistants assist dental hygienists with routine procedures and assist dentists in dental emergencies when necessary.
