Gifted Healthcare is excited to announce that Barry Faucheux, an Infusion Nurse and Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor, is a recipient of the New Orleans CityBusiness 2017 Healthcare Hero Award. The Healthcare Hero Award honors 50 healthcare professionals in the New Orleans area.
Barry Faucheux has been an nurse with Gifted Healthcare for almost a decade. He consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, so we are happy to see him recognized for his work.
For example, Barry wakes up at 2:00am every day and drives to each of his patients home to administer their infusion therapy. Most of Barry’s patients are young children. By doing home visits, he does not disrupt their daily routine and makes it as comfortable for them as possible. In 2011, Barry began providing infusions to a 2-month old who will need weekly infusions for the rest of her life. Recently, he completed his 300th visit with this patient.
Then, Biomarin, a pharmaceutical company, chose Barry to be one of the first to administer the drug Naglazyme. Naglazyme is a specialty drug that only highly trained nurses are approved to administer.
Consequently, Barry has been a Great 100 Nurse at The Great 100 Nurses Celebration of Louisiana in 2015. And of course, every year, he donates his delicious homemade cajun food for the event on top of being an honoree.
Barry leads Gifted Healthcare’s annual Christmas present donation to infusion families in need. He buys presents for all of the children in the families, wraps and delivers them. The children light up with joy believing the presents are from Santa.
As the Gifted Healthcare’s Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor, he educates nurses across the entire state on crisis prevention.
Barry is a great example of a Gifted Healthcare Nurse Hero and he inspires us all. We cannot wait to celebrate his achievement as a New Orleans CityBusiness 2017 Healthcare Hero Award. The New Orleans Museum of Art will host a reception to recognize the honorees. Tickets can be purchased here.
