House on the Rock is known as a Wisconsin bucket list experience. This tourist attraction is located between the cities of Dodgeville and Spring Green, Wisconsin, and opened back in 1959. It is a complex of architecturally distinct rooms, streets, gardens, and shops designed by Alex Jordan Jr., a self-taught artist.
Visiting the House on the Rock is an experience unlike any other. The brochure given out on-site calls the house, “An experience that will entertain, astound, and amaze!”
Various rooms at the house include a Sculpture Garden, Infinity Room, Nostalgia Room, the World’s Largest Indoor Carousel, and so much more. You never know what you are walking into when you visit the House on the Rock, but it is an experience visitors wish they could relive for the very first time.
Devils Lake is near Baraboo, Wisconsin which is known as the “Circus City”. It is a historic town that attracts many visitors to the Midwest to see the Circus World Museum, as the small town is the hometown of the famous Ringling Brothers.
The Devil’s Lake State Park is located just to the south of Baraboo and is the largest state park in the state of Wisconsin. It includes trails that range from paved, accessible trails to difficult bouldering and hiking trails for experienced hikers. Check out this small gorge hike that leads to a waterfall.
