Door County 

Door County is a great getaway common for Wisconsin tourists as it is filled with great parks, beautiful views, and a shopping and dining atmosphere.  

If you are looking for outdoor recreation while on your travel assignment, Door County is the spot for you. There are 11 lighthouses, 300 miles of shoreline, and 5 state parks to enjoy. Join in on some outdoor sports such as hiking, birding, and paddling while in Door County. Depending on the season, you can go fruit picking for apples or cherries for a more laidback outdoor activity.

Door County is also known for its concerts and outdoor theater performances so time your visit with a show that catches your attention.  

House on the Rock 

House on the Rock is known as a Wisconsin bucket list experience. This tourist attraction is located between the cities of Dodgeville and Spring Green, Wisconsin, and opened back in 1959. It is a complex of architecturally distinct rooms, streets, gardens, and shops designed by Alex Jordan Jr., a self-taught artist.  

Visiting the House on the Rock is an experience unlike any other. The brochure given out on-site calls the house, “An experience that will entertain, astound, and amaze!” 

Various rooms at the house include a Sculpture Garden, Infinity Room, Nostalgia Room, the World’s Largest Indoor Carousel, and so much more. You never know what you are walking into when you visit the House on the Rock, but it is an experience visitors wish they could relive for the very first time.  

Devil’s Lake State Park 

Devils Lake is near Baraboo, Wisconsin which is known as the “Circus City”. It is a historic town that attracts many visitors to the Midwest to see the Circus World Museum, as the small town is the hometown of the famous Ringling Brothers.  

The Devil’s Lake State Park is located just to the south of Baraboo and is the largest state park in the state of Wisconsin. It includes trails that range from paved, accessible trails to difficult bouldering and hiking trails for experienced hikers. Check out this small gorge hike that leads to a waterfall.  

The park is also home to a number of areas for rock climbing for visitors of any skill level, as well as eight miles of bike trails and more than four hundred campsites. Enjoy the adventures outside and then visit the Circus World Museum to take in the entire city!  

Beer and Cheese 

Wisconsin takes its beer and cheese seriously, so seriously that for the past 12 years they have hosted a sold-out Beer and Cheese Fest in Madison, Wisconsin.

Also rich in history is the Miller Brewing Company Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Home of the popular Miller Lite beer, in Miller Valley you can experience an indoor/outdoor guided walking tour of over 160 years of its brewing history. The tour includes everything from Fredrick Miller’s arrival in Milwaukee to the high-speed production lines used today.
