Celebrating the Year

In January of this year, the World Health Organization declared 2020 to be the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. In addition, the announcement calls for nations across the globe to “invest in RNs and midwives as part of their commitment to health for all.” The declaration was also meant to honor the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. An iconic figure in nursing history, Nightingale is considered by many to be the mother of modern nursing.

And as the months followed, it became clear that nurses are an essential part of the healthcare industry. The world recognized RNs for their heroism in 2020. The events of the past year have placed the heroic work of the nurse into the limelight. Stories of nurses' compassion, dedication, and hard work have inspired all of us. RNs are bravely living the values of their profession. And we're confident they will continue to do so until the end.
