Gifted Nurse Erica Rogers Receives “Health Care Hero” Award

July 02, 2021

Great nurses are the heart and soul of Gifted Healthcare, and our mission is to support their work. Nurses remain the heroes of the pandemic, and we are very excited to share the work of one very special RN. We're proud to announce that Gifted nurse Erica Rogers has received a “Health Care Hero” award from New Orleans CityBusiness!

Gifted Healthcare nominated Erica for her incredible work as a travel nurse, healthcare entrepreneur, and public health advisor.

New Orleans CityBusiness’ “Healthcare Heroes” honors healthcare professionals in the New Orleans area in the following categories: first responders, nursing, physicians, professionals and volunteers. Honorees are selected based on their industry, and how their community involvement and achievements impact the overall community.

Erica Rogers received a Healthcare Hero award in the “Nurse” category. This award recognizes individuals from the nursing field whose performance is exemplary to patients and doctors. Additionally, these nurses provide a model of professionalism to peers. She will be celebrated at an event on October 25, 2021 at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Erica Rogers Represents the True Spirit of a Nurse

Erica Rogers is a rare individual. She is the type of person who leaves you feeling inspired, energized, and full of hope after every conversation. Additionally, her resilience, resourcefulness, and agility fuels her deep dedication to patient care and the well-being of the community at large.

Erica knew from an early age that she was meant to be a caregiver. She drew inspiration from her aunt who spent a lifetime in service of public and community health. Then early on in her nursing career, Erica became committed to improving individual and public health on a large scale, quickly distinguishing herself as a leader and innovator in the nursing community.

Erica began her nursing career at Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2008. After developing a close and lasting relationship with a patient in cancer treatment, she launched a peer-to-peer support system that helped patients and their families cope with this difficult process. Her initiative grew into The Braveheart Foundation, a humanitarian aid and relief organization with a mission to provide resources for healthcare development in communities around the world. Erica created and scaled the Braveheart Foundation entirely during her time working as a nurse. She has since recruited local clinicians to assist her in mission trips to Uganda to provide healthcare.

Erica became a member of Governor John Bel Edwards' Health Equity Task Force as COVID19 broke out in Louisiana. In this role, she has been providing best practices and recommendations for mitigating the spread of COVID-19 throughout the state.

A Bright Future

Erica Rogers is our Healthcare Hero, too! She is a beacon of hope and inspiration for the healthcare community with a bright future as a clinician. Erica is currently in the process of launching a local co-op housing community for New Orleans travel nurses. Inspired by health and wellness, this co-op housing will be the first of its kind in the state of Louisiana.

Thank you, Erica! We are honored to call you a Gifted Healthcare Nurse!
