Local nursing assignments can range from a few weeks to several months. Generally, the length of a contract depends on the facility’s needs and your availability. Most contracts are 13 weeks long, and many will offer the option to extend your assignment beyond the initial agreement.

Some facilities provide a comprehensive orientation that covers the policies, procedures, equipment, documentation, and culture of the facility. Other facilities provide a brief orientation that focuses on the essential aspects of your role.
